These three fundraising activities contribute
on average to 20-25% of the charity’s income each year.
You can also help raise funds by using our BuyAt
Webshop for your online shopping, Everyclick
as your search engine, and returning used printer
cartridges for recycling. If you have goods to sell
on eBAY you can donate some
or all of the selling price. We also have Myositis Support Group
merchandise for you
to purchase and free money
boxes for collecting loose change.
If you would like to organise your own fundraising
event we can support your effort, see Ideas

London Marathon
Each
year we have been fortunate to have at least one runner in the London
Marathon. We are currently on a waiting list for guaranteed places
so rely on our runner(s) obtaining their place themselves through
the public ballot. James Borrett and Mick Clarke who ran for the Support
Group this year both obtained their places through the Public Ballot.
James wearing number 3329 completed his run in 3hrs 24mins and Mick
wearing 33639 finished in 6hrs 42mins. Sponsorship money is still
coming into the office and James himself through his JustGiving
Page has raised over £2217. Confirmation and details
of split times can be found on the Official
London Marathon Website.
If you have a ballot place for the next London
Marathon (2009) and would like to run on behalf of the Myositis
Support Group please let us know. The London Marathon organisers
have released some guaranteed places to charities called Silver
Bonds and we have been awarded one of these for next years run.
Silver Bonds are a one off guaranteed place and only one can be
awarded every 5 years. Our Silver Bond runner will be named shortly
and you can keep up to date with their training and fundraising
by following their blog.

Everyclick Search
Engine
Everyclick.com
works just like any other search engine with one difference every
time you perform a search money is raised for the Myositis Support
Group. It's a great way to help us raise funds and doesn't cost you
a penny!
Visit: www.everyclick.com/myositissupportgroup to register
and select Myositis Support Group as the charity to benefit from your
internet searches and that's it! Please give it a go and if you like
it as much as we do - pass the message on!
"I have joined Everyclick and find it as good as Google, so thanks
for this tip," - Simon Millyard
eBay
You
can raise funds for the Myositis Support Group while selling
on eBay. It is easy to do and
you can choose how much to donate to us (between 10% and 100%
of your item's final selling price), and your listing will be
marked with the special blue and yellow ribbon, making it really
stand out!
Buyers can easily search for charity items both on the main site and
on the eBay for Charity page. This can mean more bids and even more
selling success! After your item sells, your donation will be paid
directly into the Myositis Support Group bank account, along with
Gift Aid (if you've ticked the box) and an eBay fee donation. The
really good news is that, although it will require a little leg-work
up front to get you up and running, once you're registered it requires
little extra effort. You just tick the charity box when you're listing,
choose the percentage of your final sale price you want to donate
and choose the Myositis Support Group as the charity, and the rest
is taken care for you.
Selling
for charity is like selling anything on eBay - but with one additional
twist; you need to register with MissionFish, the UK charity partnered
to eBay. MissionFish does all the back-end work to make sure your
donation reaches the Myositis Support Group. Once your item sells,
you're then able to pay your donation directly through your MissionFish
account, or - if you prefer - MissionFish can take it directly from
your credit card. Selling through eBay and MissionFish is like doing
a car boot sale at your leisure! Interested? Visit www.missionfish.org to get started.
The Myositis Support Group has made a Fundraising Promise
commissioned by the Fundraising Standards Board to ensure
its fundraising activities are open and fair.
