Myositis UK has been contacted by Servier to inform of a new clinical trial in myositis which is open for recruitment. This trial is for a potential treatment for the treatment of polymyositis, dermatomyositis and necrotizing autoimmune myopathy and the UK arm is under Dr Hector Chinoy. The information below has been provided by Servier.

Clinical Trial in patients with Polymyositis or Dermatomyositis or Necrotizing autoimmune myopathy

The study will take place in approximately 15 countries around the world and 1 UK hospital is conducting this clinical research study for patients suffering from Polymyositis or Dermatomyositis or Necrotizing autoimmune myopathy The aim of this study is to investigate the safety and the effectiveness of a potential new drug in improving muscle weakness and/or other symptoms, such as the associated skin ones for patients suffering from Polymyositis or Dermatomyositis or Necrotizing autoimmune myopathy. To find out if you may be eligible to participate in this study, please check if you meet the following criteria:

  • Are you aged 18 and over?
  • Have you been diagnosed with either Polymyositis, Dermatomyositis or Necrotizing autoimmune myopathy?
  • Are you intolerant or resistant or dependent to systemic oral corticosteroids?
  • Are you happy to try a new treatment?

If you answered yes to all these questions you may be qualified to join the study.
