Trial: Five-Year Single-Blind, Phase III Effectiveness Randomised Actively Controlled Clinical Trial in New Onset Juvenile Dermatomyositis: Prednisone Versus Prednisone Plus Cyclosporine a Versus Prednisone Plus Methotrexate

A total of 185 centres from 46 different countries (110 centres in 21 European States and 75 centres in 25 States outside the European Union) are participating in the project.UK centres which are members of the PRINTO network include; Birmingham (Institute of Child Health Clinical Research Block), Bristol (Bristol Royal Hospital for Children), Glasgow (Royal Alexandra Hospital), Leeds (Leeds General Infirmary Department), Liverpool (Royal Liverpool Children's NHS Trust, Alder Hey), London (University College London Centre for Paediatric and Adolescent Rheumatology), Newcastle-Upon-Tyne (Newcastle University School of Clinical Medical Sciences Musculoskeletal Research Group), Nottingham (Queen's Medical Centre Department of Paediatric and Adolescent Rheumatology), Oxford (Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre Department of Paediatric Rheumatology), and Portsmouth (Queen Alexandra Hospital Department of Rheumatology).

Trial: Rituximab in the Treatment of Refractory Adult and Juvenile Dermatomyositis and Adult Polymyositis.
Principal Investigator: Chester Oddis.
Trial Duration: March 2006 – September 2008
A randomized, double-blind, placebo-phase, multi-centre, phase II trial of intravenous rituximab in the treatment of refractory myositis in adults and children, involving approximately 20 adult centres and 17 paediatric clinical centres in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Czech Republic and Sweden will be enrolling a total of 200 participants.
