Invitation to virtual thesis seminar

Myositis UK members are invited to attend a virtual thesis seminar on 16 September at 6PM BST (1pm EDT) with Kyla Britson.

Based in the US, Kyla was one of the three young researchers awarded a speed funding grant by Myositis UK at the 3rd Global Conference on Myositis held in Berlin last year.

Her winning research proposal was: The Pathogenis and Treatment of Inclusion Body Myositis in a Xenograft Model.

Kyla also won an award for her presentation at the conference.

While the project has been somewhat delayed as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, Kyla is keen to keep Myositis UK members updated on her research.

Kyla said:

‘Prior to Covid-19, I was going to have my seminar in March, but we decided to postpone as infections increased. Initially, we were optimistic we would be able to hold an in-person seminar later this year, but that seems increasingly unlikely.

‘I know how involved and proactive myositis patients and their families are about seeking information and research about myositis and I’m sure many of them would enjoy participating in my seminar.’
